Haakon Orgland Bingen

Geneva Partner

Haakon specialises in international arbitration. For more than a decade, he has worked almost exclusively with international arbitration proceedings, acting as counsel in numerous arbitrations governed by ICC, SCC and OCC arbitration rules, as well as in ad hoc arbitrations governed by the Norwegian Arbitration Act. In addition to working as counsel, Haakon also regularly sits as arbitrator. In total, he has acted as counsel and arbitrator in more than 25 arbitrations, including some of the largest commercial arbitration disputes in the world, with amounts at stake exceeding dozens of billions of euros. The arbitrations have concerned in particular the European gas sector, the renewable energy sector (wind) and post-M&A. He has handled matters governed by Norwegian, German, Swedish, Swiss and Ukrainian law.

Haakon also has experience with leading challenge and enforcement proceedings in numerous jurisdictions, as well as with EU procedural, competition and energy law, and sanctions.

In addition to Norwegian (native) and English (fluent), Haakon also speaks Russian (proficient) and Spanish (intermediate).
