AAW provided a fantastic opportunity to connect with colleagues from around the Asia-Pacific region and further develop our networks. In amongst the 40+ events during AAW our team members were involved with:
Alexis Schoeb spoke at the conference on a panel exploring From Planning to Podium – disputes arising out of the Brisbane Olympics. The panel considered the timeline to the Games as well as arbitration’s role, and readiness, for the issues that may arise on the road to Brisbane 2032. Our thanks to the conference organisers for a fantastic event.
We were pleased to join with LCM to co-host this networking event following the conference at Bougainvillea House, providing the opportunity for conference attendees to continue their conversations backlit by the Story Bridge.
We hosted a unique and interactive event on Wednesday afternoon discussing the complexities of sporting disputes from the various perspectives of those involved – arbitrators, athletes and sporting organisations. Our thanks to the incredible panel that took the time to share their experiences and insights with us: Bronwen Knox OLY GAICD, Jacqui Partridge, Richard L. Vaughan (GAICD MBA OLY) and Anthony Lo Surdo SC, FCIArb, in this session moderated by Alexis Schoeb.
Deborah Tomkinson spoke on the panel with other industry leaders at the AFIA Symposium addressing questions around the theme of: The Explosion of International Arbitration: is Australia well places to take advantage of this big bang?
Peter & Kim was pleased to support the Australian launch of OpenArbitration hosted by Corrs Chambers Westgarth on Wednesday evening. It was a fabulous opportunity to celebrate diversity within the arbitration community and beyond.
James Morrison spoke at the ACICA Arbitrator Workshop, the final event of the AAW calendar! Jim provided his insights into the 2021 ACICA Rules as Chair of the ACICA Rules Committee and drawing from his practice as an arbitrator.
We look forward to being a part of AAW in Sydney next year.
